Just a quick post to test out the posting functionality of WordPress 2.7 which I upgraded this blog to earlier today.
All seems in order, had a sight issue with some of the plugins not getting re activated after my upgrade.
I am very impressed with the new WordPress interface. I think this is probably the biggest cosmetic update that I have ever seen to WordPress and I am going to enjoy learning all the cool ways of using it in the most productive way.
For those of you who are interested, I performed the upgrade from 2.6.3 to 2.7 using the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin. All went really smooth and worked fine.
If you find anything that is broken or does not work as expected, please let me know.
Good to hear your reactions about WordPress 2.7, I’m looking at installing it now…or will wait for the 2.7.1 release 😉
Interesting to hear about your use of the automatic upgrade plugin, I’ve never tried using that and have always done it the “old fashioned way” – is there any work to do around permissions when installing that plugin or does it do it all for you?
@Zath:
My last manual upgrade totally broke my blog and I had to restore. The good thing is that it improved my WP knowledge so I felt a lot more comfortable doing it this time. I had full backups and a few hours free in case things went wrong.
The way the Auto Update works is great. It is more like an Auto Manual Update as it takes you through each step.
The interface to 2.7 really is great. Makes it a lot easier to manage and you should give it a go.
My blog is on wordpress.com so I got 2.7 automatically and I like it. The quick post feature is really nice.
I am most impressed with 2.7 after declaring I would NOT upgrade. I learned a good lesson, never say NOT!
